I’m over halfway through this book, and I’m giving it up.
It’s a fine story, mostly well written, but I don’t care for the characters. The “clever” narrator feels a bit contrived and arbitrary. The main characters are nice and round and human and interesting…but ultimately, I don’t care what happens to them. I don’t care if they live or die, if they’re happy or sad. There are touching moments, but everything feels a bit grey.
I haven’t been excited to read since starting this, and I’d rather move on to something that moves me than plod though this.
