The Hunger Games

The Hunger Games
I read it December of 2012!
5 stars!

So delightful! I read this in two sittings.

It’s as smooth, enjoyable, dark, painful, and wonderful as a survivalist gladiatorial 1984 romance should be!

The only part of the book that made me blink was the prose. Present tense fiction isn’t as easy for me to get into, and there are plenty of dopey little bits like the character from the farming district being named “Thresh.” And there were a couple moments that were just horrible: “I take tiny spoonfuls of fish soup. The saltiness reminds me of my tears.” Bahaha! But thankfully, for every line that tacky, Collins made up for it with plot, characters, and general amazingness.

Second book? Films? Here I come :-)
