So far, the Guy Maddin films I’ve seen are fascinating! They are entirely unique and delightful. They have humor, a kind of depth, and a timelessness.
But they are also a bit ham-handed and too personal to be broadly interesting.
I think I’ll watch a few more out of interest, but can’t shake the feeling I’m watching them to “get something out of them” rather than to enjoy them.
